Honest financial education from someone who's been on both sides of the advisory table.
I spent 12 years working in financial services — first at a mid-size RIA, then at one of the big wirehouses. I saw firsthand how performance was reported to clients, and I wasn't always comfortable with what I saw.
The reports clients received were accurate in the narrowest sense. But they were designed to tell a story — the advisor's story. Benchmarks were cherry-picked. Time periods were selectively chosen. Fees were technically disclosed but practically invisible.
I left the industry in 2022 and started Clear Path Finance because I believed regular investors deserved the same quality of performance analysis that institutional investors take for granted.
I write about portfolio performance, fee transparency, and how to evaluate whether your investment approach is actually working — whether you use a financial advisor, a robo-advisor, or manage your own accounts.
I review tools and services that I believe genuinely help investors. When I recommend something, it's because I've used it myself and believe it adds real value. I do earn affiliate commissions on some recommendations, and I always disclose that.
I don't sell financial advice. I don't manage money. I educate and point people toward tools that give them clarity about their own financial situation.
The financial services industry has a fundamental conflict of interest: the people who manage your money are the same people who report on how well they're managing it. That's like a student grading their own test. I believe independent verification should be the norm, not the exception.
Clear Path Finance earns revenue through affiliate partnerships with financial tools and services I recommend. This means I may receive a commission if you sign up for a service through one of my links, at no additional cost to you. I only recommend products I personally use and believe in. My editorial content is never influenced by affiliate relationships.
